Adam and Lisa's charitable work in Nepal
During last season of House Rules, we never missed a single episode and are thrilled with the work that Adam & Lisa (our favourites) are doing after winning in the finale. Adam & Lisa are generous supporters of Habitat for Humanity and last month joined a team of Australian volunteers to build houses in Nepal. For five days, they worked tirelessly to build two houses made from mud & bamboo. Their work will now provide safety and security to Nepalese families living in slums - in total 500 volunteers worked to build 36 homes for those in need.
"It's a chance to give back after our good fortune" said Lisa, who visited the slum area with Adam where families live without basic necessities such as electricity, toilets and adequate roofing. The 2 houses that Adam and Lisa built, comprise of three bedrooms, weather proof roofing and a sheltered outdoor toilet, dramatically improving the lives of local Nepalese families.
You may not have heard of the amazing work by Habitat for Humanity, so just to give you an idea of their accomplishments, they have helped 7,650 Nepalese families in just under 20 years! They have plans to implement another 100 homes next year, with the help of 2,000 volunteers worldwide.
